Last night 1st leg qualifiers were played for The Champions League (UCL) and The Europa League (UEL). Let’s take a look at the results and what happened!
Benfica 2 – PSV Eindhoven 1
Rafa Silva opened the scoring for the hosts. Julian Weigl then doubled their lead. Cody Gakpo pulled one back in the second half, but now Benfica travel to Eindhoven with a 1 goal advantage.
Malmo FF 2 – Ludogorets 0
Goals from Velkjo Birmancevic and Jo Inge Berget saw Malmo defeat Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets 2-0. Malmo must now travel to Bulgaria and finish the job in the 2nd leg.
Young Boys 3 – Ferencvárosi TC 2
In the most exciting match of the night, Young Boys of Switzerland defeated Ferencvárosi of Hungary by the slenderest of margins. However, they also had Silvan Hefti sent off. The second leg could be interesting!
Celtic 2 – AZ Alkmaar 0
Celtic won the only UEL play-off match last night 2-0 and must be confident in traveling to Holland for the 2nd leg!
