Gareth Bale’s first La Liga goal since 2019 and an outfield player ending up playing in goal were just some of the highlights of this exciting encounter.

Real Madrid came from behind with 2 goals from Vinicius Jr. in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Levante in La Liga on Sunday night.

It was Madrid who took an early lead through Gareth Bale who smashed a first-time shot into the back of the net after Karim Benzema played the ball back to him at the edge of the area following a Madrid counter-attack.

A bit of clever passing from Levante saw the home side draw level seconds after the restart, with Roger Marti beating Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois from 10 yards.

Levante scored again soon after when Jose Campana’s half volley from a cross on the right beat Courtois for a 2-1 lead.

Real coach Carlo Ancelotti was furious with his side’s drop in intensity after the first 45 minutes.

“We had everything under control but we’re very soft in the second half, that’s not what you expect from Real Madrid. We threw away 2 points today,” said the Italian.

Substitute Vinicius Jr. pulled Real back to level terms after 70 minutes when he outran the Levante defence to latch on to a Casemiro through ball and calmly found the net.

However, Levante retook the lead soon after when Rober netted their third from a set-piece with the hosts seeing a potential 4th goal glance off the post and wide.

The see-saw battle continued when Vinicius netted to make it 3-3, right before Aitor Fernandez was shown a straight red for a challenge on the same player.

Fernandez’s red card came at a bad time for Levante, one minute after they made their final substitution, but fortunately for them, Real could not take advantage of Ruben Vezo’s cameo with the gloves in 6 minutes of injury time.
