Lukaku Nets 2 to Break Aston Villa Hearts!

Lukaku fulfills boyhood dream to score at Stamford Bridge. He nets twice. Another goal from Mateo Kovačić seals Chelsea’s 3-0 win.

Romelu Lukaku said scoring at Stamford Bridge is something he has dreamed about since he was a child after the Chelsea striker scored a brace in Chelsea’s English Premier League (EPL) victory over Aston Villa yesterday. The Belgian bagged his first-ever goals at the stadium either side of a Mateo Kovačić goal, as Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side continued their unbeaten run this campaign.

Lukaku kissed the Chelsea badge on his shirt, as he celebrated his first goal in front of Blues fans, after completely outfoxing a Villa defender with a fantastic turn onto his right foot, before firing a shot that went through Villa ‘keeper Jed Steer’s legs.

Kovačić’s goal was also his first at Stamford Bridge. It came courtesy of an appalling back-pass from Tyrone Mings, which the Croatian latched onto and finished first-time into the top left corner.

Lukaku sealed the win for Chelsea in injury time with a powerful finish from just inside the box, after he took control of an easy pass into a dangerous area from César Azpilicueta.

“It’s [been] my dream since I was 11. I’ve worked hard for this moment. I was up and down at the start [of my career] but I’ve found a certain consistency in the last three years. Lukaku said.

Many Chelsea supporters on social media believe their ‘keeper Édouard Mendy also deserves a lot of praise for his individual contribution to the 3 points. The 29-year-old goalkeeper made numerous interventions in goal, including an incredible double save in the first half.

The result moves Chelsea up to 2nd in the EPL table. Villa sink to 12th.
