Coming off their loss to Juventus, Chelsea look to bounce back in Group H with a win over Malmö, with defenders Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger back.
Chelsea face Malmö on Wednesday night, coming off a loss in their last champions league match to Juventus.
Federico Chiesa’s goal 10 seconds into the second half-time was enough to secure the win for the Italian side, as Chelsea registered 73% of the possession but struggled to create a killer chance, managing just one effort on target.
Despite the loss, both Juventus and Chelsea are still favourites to progress from Group H, but in order to do so, the Blues must beat a Malmö side who are looking for a victory after two heavy losses in the competition thus far.
Chelsea have, however, secured victories on either side of the international break, although they did have to hang onto their 1-0 lead in the second half against Brentford, with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy making a number of crucial saves that helped them remain at the top of the Premier League.
In terms of players available, Chelsea’s Thiago Silva is ready to play after his late return from international duty caused him to miss the game against Brentford.
It is therefore likely we will see a back three of Silva, Andreas Christensen, and the young Malang Sarr, who impressed in his first Premier League appearance on Saturday evening.
Hakim Ziyech is said to be a doubt through illness, and Christian Pulisic is likely ruled out with an ankle injury, so it is likely Lukaku and Timo Werner will be up front supported by Mason Mount in an attacking midfield role.
Chelsea 4 – 0 Malmö
Malmo have been struggling this season, and it looks to be no different up against a formidable Chelsea side strong in defence and dangerous in attack – it may be simply a question of how many the Blues can score.
