Manchester United Hope To Bounce Back Against Tottenham

Manchester United Hope To Bounce Back Against Tottenham

The Red Devils went through one of their worst defeats ever, losing 5-0 to Liverpool last week. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to do everything in his power to get his team back on track, otherwise it is very likely he will have to start looking for a new job.

Tottenham Hotspur play hosts to Manchester United tomorrow evening. Spurs might have beaten Burnley in their last game in the EFL Cup, but that came only after losing against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League, and also losing to West Ham in the EPL. They now occupy sixth position in the EPL on 15 points with five wins and four losses. This truly shows how inconsistent the Londoners have been.

We already mentioned Manchester United’s last game against Liverpool. Before that, they beat Atalanta in the Champions League, and they lost to Leicester in the EPL. In these last three matches, United conceded 11 goals! They really have to get their defence back in order to stay relevant this season. Perhaps the return of Raphael Varane can change things around for the better.

Luckily for United, Spurs’ offence has been rather impotent in their last few games. They actually only scored a single goal in the last three matches! Harry Kane, last season’s top goal-scorer in the EPL, has only one goal under his belt in the EPL so far this year. Most of the responsibility then lies on Son Heung-Min, but nobody can carry a team alone.

Who are we likely to see start for each team? Manchester are going to have to do without the services of Paul Pogba, who collected a red card against Liverpool. It is possible Nemanja Matic will take his place. The main question is, will Portuguese internationals Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo drop out of the starting XI, or will Solskjaer give them yet another chance? Edison Cavani and Jesse Lingard are surely ready to take on the challenge.

As far as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side goes, we are certain to see Kane and Son up front, with Lucas Moura and Tanguy Ndombele starting as well, though Lo Celso and Bergwijn are fighting for a chance to prove themselves, and it might be helpful to switch things around in the offence.

Our prediction is a Manchester United win. They need this win, they have everything to prove, Solskjaer’s job is on the line, and Ronaldo will do everything he can, to forget about the horrors of last week’s Liverpool match.
