Norwich and Leeds in Epic EPL Sunday Showdown!

Norwich will host the Yorkshire club for a game that already looks like a relegation dogfight!

Norwich City’s quest for their first victory of the 2021-22 English Premier League (EPL) season will continue on Sunday afternoon when they welcome fellow strugglers Leeds United to Carrow Road. The Canaries are rock bottom of the EPL table. They have so far registered just two points from their opening nine matches. Leeds are 17th with just seven points to show from their first nine games of the season.

Last weekend, Daniel Farke’s Norwich side suffered a 7-0 defeat at Chelsea, and there is simply no downplaying the importance of this clash with Leeds, as they seek to bounce back.

Leeds, meanwhile, will enter Sunday’s contest off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in the last-16 stage of the EFL Cup last Tuesday night. Marco Bielsa’s team will feel that they need a victory here in what already looks like it could be an early relegation 6-pointer.

In squad news, Norwich will again have to do without the services of Christoph Zimmermann through injury. Fellow centre-back, Ben Gibson, is also out through suspension, following his red card in the seven-goal loss to Chelsea.

Billy Gilmour is available, though, and it would not be a surprise to see the Scotland international midfielder come back into the starting XI.

As for Leeds, Bielsa revealed during Friday’s press conference that Raphinha, Junior Firpo, and Kalvin Phillips are all likely to be available for Sunday’s showdown.

However, Robin Koch, Luke Ayling, and Patrick Bamford remain on the treatment tables for the Whites, with Bielsa admitting that he is unsure when the trio will be available for selection again.

Rodrigo is again expected to play as the striker in Bamford’s absence. Wingers Jack Harrison and Daniel James could also both start, with the visitors likely to attack Norwich in search of three points.

Leeds United will have decided that this game is the perfect chance to pick up their second win of the season. We believe that they will. Our prediction is a 2-0 away victory to the Whites.
