Foxes Head to Elland Road for Fascinating EPL Contest!

Leicester City travel to Leeds United on Sunday for this intriguing EPL showdown! Who will take the spoils in Yorkshire?

Two sides struggling in their respective 2021-22 English Premier League (EPL) seasons lock horns at Elland Road on Sunday, as Leeds United entertain Leicester City.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds outfit scraped a 2-1 win over Norwich City in their last game, while the Foxes lost 2-0 to an Aaron Ramsdale-inspired Arsenal performance.

In squad news, Leeds boss Bielsa has confirmed that Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, and Luke Ayling will all remain out of contention this weekend, but Junior Firpo should be given the nod to at least make the squad.

The hosts are waiting to hear about the fitness of Jamie Shackleton after the 22-year-old came off injured against Norwich. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see Mateusz Klich recalled to the centre of midfield.

Rodrigo is only one yellow card away from being slapped with a one-game suspension, but the Spaniard will surely continue up top, in tandem with Jack Harrison this weekend.

As for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are among those to have been struck down by a sickness bug in recent days, but the boss recently voiced hope that the duo will be fit for this game.

Wesley Fofana, James Justin, and Marc Albrighton continue to recover from injuries, while Ricardo Pereira is uncertain. Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi should be ready to challenge Boubakary Soumaré for a midfield place.

Ayoze Pérez may be forced to start two games in quick succession if Maddison does not recover in time, and Jamie Vardy prepares to return to the XI, in preference over Zambian hitman Patson Daka. 

Both Leeds and Leicester have been weak defensively this term, and the Foxes’ recent bout of sickness has not helped their existing absentee concerns.

However, with Rodgers expecting to welcome some of his big-guns back to the first XI this weekend, we are backing Leicester to respond in the ideal fashion and pile more misery on Bielsa. Our prediction is 2-0 to the Leicester Foxes!
