Manchester United Outgunned by Dominant City at Old Trafford!

There’s more pressure on Solskjær, as Manchester United are soundly beaten by Manchester City. A Bailly own goal and a strike from Silva are more than enough for the blue half of Manchester!

Manchester United were easily brushed aside at Old Trafford in the local derby, as Manchester City emerged as 2-0 winners on Saturday.

An Eric Bailly own goal and a close-range finish from Bernado Silva in the first half, were enough to secure all three points for the visitors and put more pressure on United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

In United’s first home clash since their 5-0 destruction at the hands of Liverpool, they were once again overpowered in front of their fans by one of their biggest rivals.

Pep Guardiola’s City took the lead with seven minutes on the clock, as Bailly sliced João Cancelo’s cross past David de Gea in the Red Devils’ goal.

The Spanish keeper was needed to make several important saves to keep the score down. However, United had chances of their own, with Cristiano Ronaldo forcing City goalkeeper Ederson into making a smart save.

But City’s second goal arrived on the stroke of half-time as Silva took advantage of Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire’s loss of concentration, to get on the end of another Cancelo cross and sneak the ball past de Gea. It was no more than City’s first-half dominance deserved.

Jadon Sancho was introduced from the bench at half-time, but it didn’t change anything, as City continued their dominance in the second half.

Shaw was forced to come off with a head injury after the half-time break. The England international left-back was subsequently replaced by Alex Telles.

The Old Trafford home fans chanted for the introduction of Donny van der Beek and they were given their wish on 80 minutes, but the former Ajax midfielder couldn’t make any impact at the end of the game.

Despite failing to add any more goals, City were in total control in the second half and United didn’t create any decent chances.

The result sees City move back into second place. One point ahead of Liverpool, but having played one more game. United remain in fifth, on 17 points.
