Mbappé opens the scoring for Les Parisiens, but it isn’t enough as City strike back through Sterling and Jesus!

Forward, Gabriel Jesus, netted a late winner as Manchester City came from 0-1 down, to beat Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The 2-1 victory now ensures that both clubs make it through to the last 16, with one match to play.

City, who were missing influential midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, due to a positive COVID-19 test, still enjoyed the better of the first-half chances.

PSG defender, Presnel Kimpembe, rescued his side early on, clearing the ball off the line from a Rodri header at the back post.

The hosts went close again just after the 30-minute mark when İlkay Gündoğan hit the woodwork after the ball fell kindly to the German, at the edge of the penalty area.

Just after the break, PSG opened the scoring, as Kylian Mbappé received a superb pull back from Lionel Messi, which he fired between the legs of goalkeeper, Ederson.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side levelled soon after. Raheem Sterling guided in a far post equalizer, on 62 minutes, following a phase of continuous pressure.

“It is a good lesson. When you are losing you have to continue. We knew a draw was a good result for us, but we won,” said Guardiola.

Neymar came close to snatching a winner shortly after Sterling’s goal when the Brazillian missed the target from inside the 18-yard box.

However, it was Gabriel Jesus who was the hero on Wednesday, scoring first-time from a delicate Bernardo Silva pass, as City got revenge for their 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture in Paris, earlier in the competition.
