Spurs come up with their best performance so far under Conte, as Son has a hand in both goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!

Tottenham Hotspur moved up to sixth in the English Premier League (EPL) with a 2-0 triumph over Brentford in North London on Thursday night.

Spurs opened the scoring just past the 10-minute mark when a dangerous Son Heung-Min cross deflected off Bretford’s Sergi Canós and into the Spaniard’s own goal.

Brentford goalkeeper, Álvaro Fernandez, did well to block a Harry Kane strike early in the second half after the Tottenham skipper got in behind the defence and ran onto a through ball.

Tottenham doubled their lead in the 65th minute with a high-tempo counter-attack. Sergio Reguilón eventually found Son at the far post, for the South Korean to finish easily into an unguarded net.

A week after an embarrassing Europa Conference League group stage loss at Slovenian minnows NS Mura, and four days after a journey to Burnley for a game that was postponed due to snow, Spurs produced their best 90 minutes under Antonio Conte so far.

“It was a good performance against a dangerous team. I’m happy because I have seen a great commitment and a good passion [from] the players,” Conte said.

“It’s a good reaction [after last week]. In a loss, you learn a lot but now we have to think about another Premier League game on Sunday [against Norwich City],” the Spurs boss concluded.

A fine display against Thomas Frank’s team should have brought more goals, but it was a decent night for Tottenham, even though Kane’s EPL scoring drought continues. The England striker has scored only one EPL goal this season and is being outshone by strike partner, Son.

Conte’s side are now within touching distance of the top four, after earning 22 points from 13 matches. Meanwhile, Brentford sit in 12th with 16 points, having played 14 top-flight encounters.
