Young Boys Meet the Big Boys of Manchester United in Huge UCL Match-Up!

Young Boys need to win to ensure UEFA Europa League football. United look to cap a great qualifying campaign. What will happen at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday?

Manchester United will be seeking to complete a successful 2021-22 UEFA Champions League (UCL) group-stage campaign on a high when they welcome Young Boys to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils have already progressed to the Last 16 as Group F winners. Meanwhile, Young Boys can still finish third and go into the UEFA Europa League.

Manchester United will again have to survive without Raphael Varane, and Paul Pogba for this contest, while Edinson Cavani, Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, and Jesse Lingard are all doubtful.

There is a chance that Martial could return from the issue that forced him to miss out against last weekend against Crystal Palace, but it wouldn’t be a shock to see Cavani and Shaw miss out once again.

Ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Norwich City, Ralf Rangnick should make large-scale alterations to his side, with Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly, Teden Mengi, Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata, Anthony Elanga, and Mason Greenwood all potentially coming into the starting line-up.

Nemanja Matić and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could also be back in the side, having returned to the substitutes’ bench against Palace.

For Young Boys, David von Ballmoos, Cédric Zesiger, Christian Fassnacht, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Ulisses Garcia, and Felix Mambimbi will all miss out through injury.

The visitors could opt for a 4-3-3 formation at Old Trafford, with Theoson-Jordan Siebatcheu being joined in the final third by Moumi Ngamaleu, and DRC’s Meschack Elia.

Young Boys will feel confident against a Manchester United who won’t be playing their strongest XI in this encounter. However, we expect the Red Devils to still have too much for them. Our prediction is 2-0 to the home side.

Manchester United possible starting XI:
Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Mengi, Bailly, Telles; Matić, Van de Beek; Greenwood, Mata, Elanga; Martial

Young Boys possible starting XI:
Faivre; Hefti, Bürgy, Lauper, Lefort; Aebischer, Martins, Rieder; Elia, Siebatcheu, Ngamaleu
