Red Devils Condemn Burnley to Theatre of Dreams Destruction!

Red Devils Condemn Burnley to Theatre of Dreams Destruction!

All the goals come in the first half, as Manchester United brush Burnley aside! Rangnick’s men now move up to Sixth in the Premier League!

Manchester United climbed to sixth in the English Premier League (EPL), courtesy of a 3-1 win over struggling Burnley, at Old Trafford on Thursday. The result extends the Red Devils unbeaten start under interim head coach, Ralf Rangnick.

After an error-strewn display in Monday’s 1-1 draw at Newcastle United, the German manager made six alterations to his team, with Edinson Cavani starting upfront, in tandem with Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, it was Scott McTominay who opened the scoring for the home side, with an eighth-minute curler from the edge of the area, after being teed up by Ronaldo.

Jadon Sancho’s deflection off Ben Mee made it 2-0 to United just before the half-hour mark. The Burnley defender was eventually the ungrateful recipient of the goal.

Ronaldo – who had messed up a fantastic opportunity after being sent clean through when the game was still goalless – tapped into an empty net, following McTominay’s thwarted, 35th-minute effort.

Aaron Lennon cashed in on an appalling first touch from Eric Bailly to get one back for Sean Dyche’s Burnley before the break. The 34-year-old winger went on a trademark run, then applied clinical finish into the bottom corner.

However, in their first game since the 12th of December, Burnley were without the stamina or the flair to worry United further and stay in the relegation zone.

The victory extends United’s unbeaten run since the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjær to eight matches, although in sixth place and only two points closer to the top of the league than the bottom, they still have some way to go to answer their critics.
